Saturn VUE Hybrid is Highest MPG of All SUVs

Today, Saturn announced that the Saturn VUE Green Line (Hybrid Crossover) is officially the most fuel-efficient SUV on the market.  For people who complain that SUV drivers aren't environment-friendly, finally there is a solution, and it comes from America, the inventor of the SUV. The Saturn Vue Green Line will go 585 miles on a tank of gas, and the combined city/highway 28 MPG rating is a full 20% better that it's closest competitors, the Toyota RAV-4 and the Honda CRV. We expect to be getting our first Green Lines into the dealership by about mid-November, but because we are only planning on a limited production in 2008, we suggest that customers get their order in early, and we think that special orders will get here is about 6-8 weeks, but we aren't 100% sure as Saturn is still working out the details on the order process for these vehicles.

Below is the abbreviated press release:

NEW SATURN VUE GREEN LINE IS FUEL ECONOMY LEADER . . . Saturn today announced that the all-new 2008 Saturn VUE Green Line hybrid will have a fuel economy rating of 25 miles per gallon in city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway — the best highway mileage of any sport utility vehicle. The division also announced that the VUE Green Line will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $24,795, making it the most affordable hybrid SUV on the market.

In combined city and highway driving, the VUE hybrid’s fuel economy estimate is 27 percent better than the non-hybrid four-cylinder VUE. The fuel economy estimates are calculated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, using the government’s new 2008 testing procedure that was revised to better reflect real-world mileage.

The hybrid VUE’s 28 mpg combined city/highway rating gives the Saturn lineup a compact utility with significantly better fuel economy than the Honda CRV or Toyota RAV-4. The VUE Green Line also provides SUV capability with better fuel economy than that of popular sedans, such as the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The VUE Green Line’s highway fuel economy will allow the vehicle to travel up to 585 highway miles on one tank of gasoline, farther than any competitor’s SUV. That is enough range to travel roundtrip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, from Washington, D.C., to New York City or from Detroit to Chicago. Potential one-way single-tank trips include Atlanta to St. Louis, Denver to Salt Lake City and Milwaukee to Kansas City.
